Hair masks nourish your scalp and hair roots and they are a must have for epic hair! They're even better when they are organic, all-natural and homemade. Making a homemade diy hair mask for hair growth and health is not only very easy but also extremely economical.

Hair masks are able to produce many desired results for your hair from hydration and retaining moisture to getting rid of excess oil on the scalp and clearing away dandruff. Here are three popular hair masks recipes, which one will you use?

Banana Avocado Hair Mask - Moisturizes and Revitalizes Dull Lifeless Hair

For this hair mask recipe, you will need; two ripe bananas, two avocados, aloe vera juice or water, a rice strainer, a blender and a bowl. (*note, if you freeze the bananas first, let them thaw and then blend them.

The bananas will have a smoother consistency. This will ensure that you won't have to pick banana pieces out of your hair afterwards!

Blend the peeled bananas and the pitted avocados while slowly adding the water or aloe vera juice to loosen the consistency.

Then pour the mixture over a rice strainer into a bowl. When satisfied with the consistency, apply the mixture from roots to tip and make sure to avoid your scalp.

Cover your head with a plastic cap and sit under a hooded dryer for about 15-20 minutes. An alternative to the hooded dryer would be to just leave the cap on for about 1-2 hours to achieve maximum absorption.

Rinse your hair with warm water and style as desired!

Honey Yogurt Lemon Hair Mask

This natural hair mask does wonders in treating dandruff.

For this recipe you'll need a half cup of plain yogurt (Greek yogurt is ideal), 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, a teaspoon of honey, a dye application brush and a bowl for mixing. You may substitute the honey with almond oil if preferred.

Combine the yogurt, lemon juice and honey in a bowl. Mix the ingredients together, making sure that everything is combined evenly.

Apply the mixture from root to tip of your hair. Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water. You'll want to do a shampoo wash afterwards in order to get rid of the yogurt smell.

Strawberry Coconut Hair Mask - For Oil Control and Shiny Hair

For this recipe you will need 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, roughly 7 or 8 ripe strawberries, a blender and a bowl.

This recipe is based off of medium length hair, so feel free to add more if your hair is longer. Blend the strawberries, honey and coconut oil together until they have the consistency of a smoothie.

Apply the mixture evenly throughout damp hair making sure that you get full coverage from scalp to hair tip. Depending on how oily your hair is, start by leaving the mixture in your hair for about 25-30 minutes.

If oily hair is a issue for you, then opt for about 30 minutes up to an hour. Rinse your hair well with warm water and enjoy the delicious smell that the strawberries and coconut oil leave behind.
